Gear Junky Thursday!! 110% Play Harder

Anyone who knows me knows when it comes to compression products I have a HUGE problem!! I WILL buy it! Ha. For example, calve compression – I have CEPs, 2XUs, SKINS, & now to add to the collection, I have 110% Play Harder. Yup, I’d say I have a problem but, I’m not gonna lie there’s something different I like about each pair!

Last week or so, there was a great schwaggle out for 110% Play Harder. I took advantage of it… I got the knee sleeves, the arm sleeves, the knickers, & the calve sleeves. When the box came, i thought what did i order… Well, each item comes in its own cold pack with its ice pouches & whatever you ordered. I got 4 of those… & all I could think of is how great it’ll be for post workout or races & having my ice pouches handy! Yeaaaa buddy, thats what I’m talkin’ about! But today (& for the sake of time) I’m going to talk about the 110% Play Harder knee sleeves for obvious reasons… Like that’s what’s getting physical therapy so I’m using them a bit more!

When I got them Friday night, I cut up one of the ice sheets to match the area I need to do cold therapy on, ran it under warm water to expand before placing it in the freezer – I was like a little kid that just got one of those capsules with a sponge in it watching it grow! Lol. I went ahead & put the sleeve on my left knee & was surprised by the instant relief I felt – you know that feeling of aaaahhhhh – it was like a Calgon take me away moment!

I like how the sleeve is thin & effective. It’s not too bulky & you can conceal it under fun clothes or work clothes, with the exception of skirts and/or shorts ladies (& gents). They run pretty true to size. My physical therapist was surprised when I showed it to her Monday – & seemed surprised by the size, ease, & overall niftiness of these sleeves. Im assuming she’s checked out the web-site by now 🙂

After the ice sheets set up Friday night, I slid them in. I like them – they’re cold, but not over-bearingly cold. One thing I’ve noticed with the ice sheets, if you continue to re-wet them when freezing them, they’re colder & last a little longer. One night, I just put them back in the freezer (no extra water) & noticed a difference. I think people tend to forget that sometimes we can use ice too much & want the cold factor to last more than an hour… Remember the 20 on, 10 off? I put them in & let them warm up on own… Usually about 45 minutes to an hour before my ice sheets are back to room temp. Also, I’d say remember everyone’s body’s run at different temperatures… My ice may last longer or shorter next to one of my friends (we’ve had discussions because we both have knee sleeves!).

This product has been a huge aid in my recovery from my injury… As soon as PT or pool running is over, I pull out my cold pouch, put my knee sleeves on & ice in. I’ve learned over my first week of PT that the ice pouches are great if the gear is sitting for an hour or so by itself in the bag – over an hour, the ice sheets tend to lose some of their cool (I get into work at 7:30a & took it twice then when leaving the house, PT was at 9a. – this was bound to happen). I’ve been placing the stuff in the bag in my home freezer & grabbing it on the way – works like a gem & for me, & since it’s on the way, it’s convenient.

Overall, the knee sleeves are great! I love the compression & support its been providing my knee after pool running or PT. You will just have to figure out the cold factor for yourself … Like I’m working on & hopefully some of my suggestions will help you. To me it’s worth the money I spent & am looking forward to using the other products I bought from 110% Play

Gear Junky Thursday!! Run Pretty Far

So let me say as a lady who has some curves to her… sometimes, it’s hard to find something you really like to wear much less work out in… well, let me tell ya… I found it! A small company out of the northwest US, Run Pretty Far, has classy, uniquely girly pieces, and of course all at affordable prices. I learned of Run Pretty Far when reading a blog I follow.

When I placed my order, I figured it would just show up in the mail however, Jenn, one of the owners contacted me via e-mail to let me know my order was on its way – AWESOME! We all know I like the personalized touch! I thought I’d try one of their runner shirts and headbands. When I got my order in the mail, I was instantly WOWED! It was like Christmas came early to me!!

Wrapped with care…

I ordered a couple of things for me and a couple for my sister. For starters, I got myself the Runfree Performance Tank and let me tell you, it performs!

Ladies, if you have some curves, like I do, this tank is A-MAZ-ING! The lines on it is slimming and made me feel better about how I looked! Best of all, it didn’t rise up like to many do to me. I was seriously shocked at how it didn’t rise – I mean I had a honking huge hydration pack on my waist and it still didn’t creep up even a little bit! It breathed well and happened to wick away the moisture (which trust me, there was a LOT of it since I went out at 2p on a 100 degree day, not to mention the heat index and being in a head advisory… kids, don’t do what I do – I promise it is all in figuring out my fluid intake for Ironman Texas next year!!).
I also ordered Run Pretty Far‘s Skinny Emerald Bic Band. I love this band! It’s glittery looking but not glittery at all (thank goodness, I tend to get the sparkles in my eyes!)! It stayed put on me and isn’t too tight at all – I plan on ordering more because they are just that great and I was complimented a lot at the Rivershack 2 miler and when wearing it around Starkville!!!

So not only do you get A-MAZ-ING customer service but in my opinion you get great products from great people! And I know I like to support small businesses within our country so check ’em out and Run PRETTY Far!
