Gear Junky Thursday! Endurance Obsession

Okay so last week while I was sitting in the hospital waiting on Dustin to have his surgery, I was on Facebook, naturally and saw an ad on the side for a company called Endurance Obsession. I checked it out naturally and found some pretty good looking shirts. I ordered one (seriously, like I wouldn’t buy a shirt for $25 bucks).

Here’s the thing, as a triathlete, I have a TON of RESPECT for those who have completed an Ironman and because of that 140.6 battle, I do not wear anything with the m-dot logo because I feel you really need to complete one to be able to wear the m-dot. All those hours of training, sacrifices made, families sacrifices, etc = respect to those who some believe are unimaginable. I’ve done a 1/2 and in my eyes, it doesn’t count to wear the m-dot and that’s me, and I know some people aren’t like me (probably a good thing!). I often ask when I see someone wearing the m-dot, ‘what iM did you do’ and unfortunately it’s a hit or miss situation. So attempting to find something to wear that shows your enthusiasm for the big one (which mine is IM Texas 2012), can kind of be (okay, I mean seriously, it is) DIFFICULT. 🙂

Before I talk about EO, I want to tell you a bit about them from their web-site. They are triathlete’s obsessed with triathlons! They are giving back to the sport by helping juniors with entry fees (10% of net proceeds benefits a junior that might not get to enter a race because of financial issues). They have started their own recognized team with USAT and are planning big things for 2012. I love the fact that they are giving back to the triathlon community to help it grow!

So I ordered the obsessed with 140.6 shirt from Endurance Obsession (in the pink as shown). This shirt is super soft and comfy. I’m just thankful to have found something that totally describes me at this time! They have both men’s and women’s tees and let me tell you the softness of it is so worth the $25 bucks! Love it! I wore mine the other night and folks instantly took notice and someone said, your shirt says it all! lol. So make sure you check ’em out if your looking to add to your wardrobe a great shirt (I’ll be wearing this when we’re out in Kona for world championships!)!!

Gear Junky… ummm Friday. 110% Play Harder – Calve Sleeves

So, I am not only a person who loves gear, I have an OBSESSION with COMPRESSION! Last week, I let y’all know about the great knee sleeves I’m using from 110% Play Harder to aid in my injury recovery. This week, it’s only fitting I talk about the calve sleeves… AMAZINGNESS, utter AWESOMENESS, and I must say pretty NIFTY!!
Yes, it comes it the bag to keep the ice sheets cold, the ice sheets, and the sleeves. To read more about that, check out my post on the knee sleeves . Can I just say how cool these things are?! First off, they are double layered but, I like it & they’re double layered so the ice sheets can stay securely in the ‘pouch’ & the ice not lay directly on your skin. The material is light and well, I’m wearing them outside on a 90+ degree south Louisiana day and I’m comfortable.

So what I think is super nifty is that within the the front pouch, it tells you Front in red screening. Most of the time with compression, especially first time users of calve sleeves, no one has a clue as to what side is what (and sometimes the advanced are clueless too & granted some don’t have sleeves designed to be front and back but universal)-  so anyways, the writing on the sleeve makes it easy!!

When I get compression sleeves (and I have about 4-5 pair of them) there is usually something going on that I’m not necessarily in love with… like pinching because of materials used, length, heaviness, or overall durability. These compression sleeves do not slip when they are on my calves, they stay put and the material used isn’t plasticy or harsh on the tops of your calves. They fit. For myself, the length is perfect! Not to short & not to long. It’s really love!! lol.

Because of my knee injury, I have not been able to actually run in these outside but I have used them in pool running. I like what I’m getting from them. I’m not sure if I’d wear them running/biking in the summer outside in the south but definitely immediately following any workout… especially with the ice… ahhhhh it’ll be a little piece of heaven on earth! If you end up getting a pair, I’m sure you’ll be just as happy as I am with all of 110%s products!!
