Packing for Hawaii…

There’s a lot going into packing for this trip to Hawaii, especially since I’m not going out there to Kona to race but to have a vacation as a support team member of Michael Bernatovich (Dustin’s younger brother). It’s funny because I’ve started with my necessities – I rented a sweet little tri bike for 3 days when I’m out there… so my suitcase includes my HooHa On the Go packs (more about Hoo Ha on Thursday, be sure to check that out!), my bike helmet, my 1bandID, my VMR and Fluid kits, bike shoes, and when I get to NOLA on Friday, we’ll be taking my pedals off for my rental. We’ll also be taking off my Oval 985’s in the event Mike decides to race with those. I have all my swim gear – goggles, cap, suit, and for when I’m doing PT in our infinity pool, I’ll have my waterproof iPod. The GU is packed just in case and if you haven’t had the Island Nectar, GET IT! It’s like having a little cocktail in your mouth while working out! KT Tape is packed, 110% Play Harder compression is packed, BRD Knee brace is packed…fresh Xtenex laces are packed because I totally plan on buying a new pair of Newtons! you’d think I was a triathlete or something?!

Then we have all the support team shirts (that I’m still patiently waiting to get the phone call on that they are ready) and other goodies. So here’s the deal… on race day, you see me out there in my YELLOW BERNATOVICH shirt, say hey! I am taking extra packs of FLUID & HOO HA RIDE GLIDE on the go packs out for you!!! FIND ME!! I’d love to meet up with you & chat!! If you can’t find me, tweet me at trintriagain – I’ll come FIND YOU!! 🙂

I have laundry to do, like regular people stuff, you know the stuff regular people wear while on an island (and making sure my Endurance Obsession shirt is packed!). Terrified for that but at the same time I’m on vacation (this injury has not done a bit of good for my body image). I can’t wait to check out the great craft brewery’s, paddle board, surf, go deep sea fishing… yes, we have a full agenda!

Here’s the other deal folks, Michael is having a contest... there’s no following, no extra things you have to do for entries… just pick an available time – he’s giving away a sweet prize pack (I’m saying that because he’s saying it but he won’t tell me what’s in it – SUPER SECRET! I did get out of him that one of his sponsors, Nuun will be in the pack!!) So go check out his blog… ANYONE CAN ENTER!!!

Make sure you follow trintriagain (here, the FB page, & on twitter, if you’re not already)… I’ll be doing daily updates from Kona and Thursday, I’m telling you more about the A-MAZ-ING-NESS OF HOO HA for Gear Junky Thursday!!!! We leave Sunday… here’s hoping for a smooth day of traveling with bikes, luggage, and who knows what else is going out there with us!!

Gear Junky Thursday! Endurance Obsession

Okay so last week while I was sitting in the hospital waiting on Dustin to have his surgery, I was on Facebook, naturally and saw an ad on the side for a company called Endurance Obsession. I checked it out naturally and found some pretty good looking shirts. I ordered one (seriously, like I wouldn’t buy a shirt for $25 bucks).

Here’s the thing, as a triathlete, I have a TON of RESPECT for those who have completed an Ironman and because of that 140.6 battle, I do not wear anything with the m-dot logo because I feel you really need to complete one to be able to wear the m-dot. All those hours of training, sacrifices made, families sacrifices, etc = respect to those who some believe are unimaginable. I’ve done a 1/2 and in my eyes, it doesn’t count to wear the m-dot and that’s me, and I know some people aren’t like me (probably a good thing!). I often ask when I see someone wearing the m-dot, ‘what iM did you do’ and unfortunately it’s a hit or miss situation. So attempting to find something to wear that shows your enthusiasm for the big one (which mine is IM Texas 2012), can kind of be (okay, I mean seriously, it is) DIFFICULT. 🙂

Before I talk about EO, I want to tell you a bit about them from their web-site. They are triathlete’s obsessed with triathlons! They are giving back to the sport by helping juniors with entry fees (10% of net proceeds benefits a junior that might not get to enter a race because of financial issues). They have started their own recognized team with USAT and are planning big things for 2012. I love the fact that they are giving back to the triathlon community to help it grow!

So I ordered the obsessed with 140.6 shirt from Endurance Obsession (in the pink as shown). This shirt is super soft and comfy. I’m just thankful to have found something that totally describes me at this time! They have both men’s and women’s tees and let me tell you the softness of it is so worth the $25 bucks! Love it! I wore mine the other night and folks instantly took notice and someone said, your shirt says it all! lol. So make sure you check ’em out if your looking to add to your wardrobe a great shirt (I’ll be wearing this when we’re out in Kona for world championships!)!!
