Ironman Texas Training Update

So, where in the hell has all the time gone?!?!?! Seems just like yesterday that I was just ramping training back up to be ready for Ironman Texas come May 16. Well the time is now less than 2 weeks away.

Overall training for this Ironman has gone really good except for about 3 weeks where I got called away for work and slacked a little bit, but other than that I’m feeling really good on what I accomplished. Longest swim 4400yds, longest ride 117 miles, and longest run 21.7 miles all in all not bad.
Now that my taper has started! Yesterday, after my 4hr ride I’m starting to second guess what I’ve done over the past 6 months. Not sure why because I’ve done my homework and put in the time, but something is getting to me this go around. My volume and quality of training is much better this year compared to years past and my speed/endurance is on another level.

So my question to all of you is what do you do during taper time to calm yourself down and relax leading up to big races?

I’ve been going back and forth on a goal time for this race, when I raced Tx in 2012 I did 13:01:xx. So goal time for IMTX is Realistic 12:15-30, Great day 12:00-15, Stupid great day 12:00 and below!!!
